KEYNOTE ADDRESS
This year's keynote address is titled Transactional to Transformational Leadership: The Role of Passion in Leadership, presented by John M. Carreon, Partner and CEO of Advancement Experts. With over 25 years of executive leadership experience in both the nonprofit and forprofit sectors, John has developed a career focused on nonprofit sustainability planning and organizational development. He has extensive experience in vision-based strategic planning, advancement, leadership & major gifts, capital campaigns, organizational development, planned giving, board development, and leadership coaching. John is currently Partner & CEO of Advancement Experts, a consulting firm dedicated to helping organizations build a culture of philanthropy through Advancement Planning, Vision-Based Strategic Planning, Campaign Planning, Leadership Development & Coaching and Organizational & Culture Development. The annual conference held each May, brings together executive directors, board members, staff and volunteers, including the current Academy participants and alumni, to explore in-depth topics related to nonprofit management and leadership. The conference features morning and afternoon breakout education and work sessions led by nonprofit professionals. Sessions at the conference include topics such as 1) Grant Application and Management; 2) Nonprofit Financial Considerations; 3) Recruitment and Managing Volunteers; 4) Legal Obligations of Nonprofit Leaders; 5) Grant Funding Information Network; 6) Board Recruitment and Development; 7) Marketing and Public Relations; and 8) Leadership Development.
